The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)

In October 1956, the Inter-State Board for Anglo-Indian Education proposed setting up an Indian Council to administer the University of Cambridge’s Local Examination Syndicate. The inaugural meeting of the council on 3rd November 1958 marked the establishment of the ICSE Board.

 

Academics at VIS

Vidya International School, established in 2008, is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). It offers education from preschool to Grade 10, serving 400 students. Seven batches of students have successfully completed the ICSE (Grade 10).

The CISCE conducts three examinations:

– ICSE: Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (Grade 10)

– SSLC: Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Grade 10)

– CVE: Certificate in Vocational Education

– ISC: Indian School Certificate Examination (Grade 12)

Curriculum for Grades 7 to 10

The curriculum emphasizes project-based learning with a strong focus on English Literature and Language and Marathi as the second language. It prepares students for competitive exams and higher education with a syllabus fostering thinking and analytical skills. Assessments use alphabetical grades up to Grade 5 and numeric scores from Grade 6 onwards.
